A 1990's baby, born into poverty, Nelson grew up on food stamps, in a trailer, with parents working dead-end jobs.
Marital conflict led to the separation of his parents, and a messed-up childhood. Rather than succumbing to conflict and despair, Nelson's parents both worked to rise above their respective histories and to create a better opportunity for their three sons. Nelson's dad worked endless hours, became a Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist, and for a time, he programmed more hearing aids than anyone else in the whole Midwest. Nelson's mom, having retained custody of the children, moved to a small, traditional community where they were able to receive a more wholesome and individualized education.
Then came 2008, the great recession. Brought by decades of fraud from both Democratic and Republican administrations, the straws were finally breaking the camel’s back. As we may recall, the government "printed" billions of dollars in order to bail out their rich friends in the financial and corporate elite, but countless Americans, including Nelson's parents lost nearly everything they had built and worked for. But that didn't stop them, and it did not stop Nelson who had just begun studying Civil Engineering at Southern Illinois University.
Due to the fragile economy, and hearing reports of engineers graduating from prestigious institutions only to find themselves unemployed, Nelson made a unilateral decision to withdraw and recalculate. He entered the workforce, and the next semester, began studying Information Technology at Rend Lake College.
The Tech. career proved a profitable choice for Nelson, until one day he suffered a 15-foot fall while reprogramming a wireless communications radio. Sustaining numerous serious injuries, Nelson was sidelined, but not incapacitated. The experience led to Nelson patenting numerous new medical devices in conjunction with one of his orthopedic surgeons. The sidelining also led to Nelson's first campaign for political office..
The year was 2017. From a wheelchair, Nelson began running against Illinois Republican incumbent Mike Bost. Nelson campaigned heavily against America's failed foreign policies that had left countless innocents dead, and our nation terribly in debt. Additionally, he was critical of our nation's lack of care for its disabled veterans. Nelson was also outspoken about our nation's backwards agricultural policy which heavily subsidizes large corporations the edge-out family farms, and produce unhealthy food types that are still causing proliferate nation-wide disease today.
A political newbie, Nelson did not come close to winning. Nevertheless, he authored his own legislation, and offered it to his political opponent who then voted in favor of bills to better care for victims of Agent Orange, and also to devote resources for the safety and security of our schools.
As any inventor knows: If at first you do not succeed, try again.
In 2020, Nelson pitched his common-sense beliefs in American Liberty against Democratic incumbent Raja Krishnamoorthi. Raja refused to even acknowledge Nelson's campaign. Interestingly, Nelson found many of Raja's "democratic" policies for war and big agriculture to be IDENTICAL to Mike Bost's "republican" policies.
NOTE: pay a visit to www.fec.gov and search campaign finance records for any well-known Republican. Then, search the records for any well-known Democrat. You will find that their largest donors from the military industrial complex, big banks, big agriculture, big pharma, THEY ARE ALL THE SAME!
Libertarian campaigns are an up-hill battle, but Nelson used everything that he learned to win over 68 thousand votes in the general election, marking the Libertarian campaign as one of most successful in American history.
Nelson works as a solar energy consultant, and is developing improved solar devices in order to make the technology more accessible to all Americans. In 2022, he is campaigning for Illinois Treasurer.
"It's a unique opportunity to secure financial well-being for the people of Illinois. Politically speaking, it is an especially great opportunity, as the current Democratic administration have overseen one of the worst financial disasters for any state in our nation's history, and the current Treasurer has even lost track of over a billion of the state's dollar. What is worse, the Republican opponent's own professed policy is virtually identical to the Democrat's! This is a real opportunity for Illinoisan's to realize the fraud coming from both sides of the establishment, and to give Libertarians a chance to right this sinking ship before it is too late."
